Police said Wednesday they are investigating a burglary at the apartment of the late Raymond Levie and his girlfriend, Candace Jones.

Police received a call about the break-in at 4 a.m. Wednesday at 1670 Brightside Drive, Sgt. Don Stone said.

When officers arrived, Stone said, they found Josh Mayeux, 35, exiting the apartment.

Mayeux told investigators he entered the residence to get something of his that he knew was inside, said Stone, who did not say exactly what Mayeux was looking for in the apartment.

Mayeux, 1984 Brightside Drive, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

Levie, 50, who was an investigator with the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office, shared the apartment with Candace Jones, 21, who was the sister of Shawn Jones, 27, who shot Levie, then fatally shot himself Friday in the dining room of TJ Ribs on South Acadian Thruway, police have said.
