A house fire that started in the laundry room of a home on Cedar Bend Avenue caused extensive damage early Sunday, the Baton Rouge Fire Department said.
Firefighters arrived at the house in the 11000 block of Cedar Bend Avenue around 12:53 a.m. Sunday to find smoke coming from the home, said Mark Miles, a Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the laundry room where it began, but the rest of the home also received heavy smoke and water damage, Miles said. Firefighters brought the fire under control by 1:35 a.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Miles said, but foul play is not suspected.
