Update: Baton Rouge police have arrested Jaime Mejia in connection with the shooting death of Lenroy Marshall on Lorna Avenue.
Detectives learned that Mejia, 34, of 12387 Lorna Avenue, recognized Marshall, 46, of 12533 La Margie, as a person who robbed him in the past. Mejia allegedly approached Marshall with a handgun and fired shots as Marshall ran away, striking him in the back.
Mejia was booked on charges of second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
A 46-year-old man was found shot to death in the front yard of a Belaire neighborhood home Wednesday morning, and police are investigating his death as a homicide.
Police responded to the 12000 block of Lorna Avenue shortly before 7 a.m. and found the man dead, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge police spokesman.
Police did not have any motives or suspects in the killing as of Wednesday morning.
