Baton Rouge police: Baskin Robbins robber samples ice cream, demands money, runs before getting cash _lowres

Police are looking for a man who tried to rob at knife point employees at a Florida Boulevard ice cream shop.

The man walked into Baskin Robbins, 11222 Florida Blvd., March 16 about 6:30 p.m. and posed as a customer, sampling several flavors of ice cream and then left, the Baton Rouge Police Department news release says.

But a few minutes later he returned and demanded employees turn over money from the cash register. He lifted his shirt to reveal a knife in his waistband, but ran away before anyone gave him the money, the release says.

Detectives describe the man as a 30 to 35 year-old dark-skinned black man around 5 feet 10 inches tall weighing just under 200 pounds, according to the release.
