Due to mix up in communication between BRPD Detectives and hospital staff, it was incorrectly reported Monday that one of two men involved in a shooting Saturday night at a seafood store on Highland Road died from his wounds.

Police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said on Monday that Marcus Morris, 23, 265 Ellwood Drive, is expected to make a full recovery.

Morris was shot during an argument and struggle over a handgun, McKneely said Sunday.

Trouble started about 8 p.m. Saturday when Morris went into AM Mart Seafood, 2400 Highland Road, and got into an argument with a 27-year-old man, said McKneely, who did not identify the man.

Morris pulled a handgun on the man, who struggled with Morris over the weapon, McKneely said.

The man was shot in the arm during the struggle, but got the gun from Morris and shot him in the chest, he said.

Police found Morris on East Johnson Street, Capt. Joan Cage said Saturday night in a news release.

Both men were taken to a hospital, Cage said.
