Residents in Ascension Parish and two other Louisiana parishes affected by recent flooding will be eligible to receive food assistance starting Wednesday.

The Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program has set up sites in Ascension, Allen and Calcasieu parishes to provide food relief for residents affected by the flooding in certain areas of the parishes.

Ascension Parish residents living in ZIP codes 70725, 70734, 70737, 70769, 70774 and 70778 can receive food assistance by going to the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, 9039 S. St. Landry Road, Gonzales, starting Wednesday.

Program officials ask that residents go on a designated day based on the first letter of their last name as follows: Wednesday, A-F; Thursday, G-N; and Friday, O-Z.

If an applicant can’t go to the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center on the assigned weekday, officials ask that those whose last names start with A-K visit on Saturday and all others come on Sunday.

Residents in certain ZIP codes of Allen and Calcasieu parishes can visit Allen Parish Civic Center, 609 Tiger Lane, Oberlin, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 2292 La. 109, Vinton, respectively, using the same procedure.
