A fire believed to have been deliberately set destroyed a vacant home on Wenonah Street on Monday afternoon, a Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman said.

Firefighters arrived at the house at 2714 Wenonah just after 4 p.m. Monday to find the structure engulfed in flames, said department spokesman Curt Monte, and within 15 minutes brought the blaze under control before it could spread to neighboring buildings.

The building is considered a total loss, Monte said.
