A 35-year-old man was arrested Thursday for breaking into the apartment of one of the men killed last week at TJ Ribs, a Baton Rouge police spokesman said.

Police received a call about the break-in around 4 a.m., Sgt. Don Stone said.

When officers arrived on scene, they found Josh Mayeux, 35, coming out of Raymond Levie’s apartment at 1670 Brightside Drive, Stone said.

Mayeux told investigators he broke into the apartment to get something of his that Levie had, Stone said. Exactly what Mayeux went to the apartment to get was not available.

Mayeux, 1984 Brightside Drive, will be booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

On Friday, Shawn Jones, 27, shot Levie in the dining room of TJ Ribs on Acadian Thruway after the two men began arguing while eating dinner, police said. Shawn Jones then shot and killed himself, authorities said.

Levie, who was an investigator with the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office, was being investigated by the Police Department at the time of his death.

Police were looking into whether Levie had illegally possessed several bottles of prescription drugs.

The drugs, which were in other people’s names, were found during a search of Levie’s Brightside Drive apartment that he shared with the 21-year-old sister of the man who shot Levie and then fatally shot himself, Stone said.
