Brittany Monk, the 18-year-old charged in the stabbing and strangling death of a man she said molested her repeatedly as a child, pleaded not guilty Thursday to second-degree murder.
On Wednesday, she and her 21-year-old boyfriend Jace Crehan, both of Walker, were indicted on the murder charge in the killing of Robert Noce, who was found July 4 stuffed in a plastic bin inside his Zachary trailer.
Wearing glasses and a seafoam green jumpsuit, hiding a pregnant belly underneath, Monk appeared in front of state District Judge Anthony J. Marabella in the 19th Judicial District Court flanked by her two lawyers from the public defender’s office. Monk is due to deliver a baby on Sept. 22, she said.
Pregnant with Crehan’s child, Monk is scheduled to give birth while in custody as of now, said one of her attorneys, Lindsay Blouin.
Monk’s bond has been set at $400,000, but it’s unclear if it will be lowered, Blouin said.
The teenager is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 14, with Crehan, who will be arraigned.
