A 20-year-old man turned himself in to Baton Rouge police on Monday for his involvement in a June 1 fatal hit and run in the 6400 block of Greenwell Springs Road.

Devante Pugh, 20, 5206 Jacquelyn Drive, Baker, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with felony hit and run, obstruction of justice and driver’s license suspended, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman.

Pugh is accused of being the driver of a car that fatally struck Louise Hunter, 47, while she attempted to cross the street on foot on June 1, police said.

Hunter was transported to Baton Rouge General Hospital where she later died because of her injuries.
