A St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Wednesday and accused of indecent sexual behavior with a 16-year-old girl, a Baton Rouge Police spokesman said.

Dustin Fite, 25, was booked into Parish Prison on eight counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile, said Sgt. Donald Stone.

Fite had several sexual encounters with the Baton Rouge girl, Stone said.

Fite’s current situation with the Sheriff’s Office is unclear, Stone said. He said the department has been notified of the arrest.

Fite’s first encounters with the girl began in March, Stone said.

The girl’s mother found text messages from Fite on her daughter’s phone, which she reported to city police, Stone said.

Fite had worked with the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office for the past two years, Stone said.
