A 25-year-old man was killed early Tuesday when he lost control of his Jeep and crashed into the woods off of Burbank Drive, according to a State Police news release.

Troopers suspect Jason Matte, of Belle Chase, crashed about 3 a.m. Tuesday, though the wreckage wasn’t found until about 6 p.m., the release says.

The investigation showed Matte was speeding on Burbank Drive south of Jennifer Jean when his Jeep struck a median and overturned, the release says.

The car landed off the roadway in a wooded area, out of sight from passing drivers, the release says.

Matte was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the driver’s seat as the vehicle rolled, the release says.

Matte was crushed between the roof of the Jeep and the rear seat, the release says.

Troopers suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash, the release says.
