State Police said a 54-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on La. 19 at Port Hudson-Pride Road on Sunday afternoon — and charges may be pending against the driver who turned left in front of him.

Alan Carlyle, of Baker, was riding south on La. 19 at around 5:45 p.m. Sunday when Lacey Roberts, 27, of Zachary, was driving north on the road with a 2-year-old in the backseat, Trooper First Class Jared Sandifer said in a news release.

As they approached each other, Roberts turned left toward Port Hudson-Pride Road and into the motorcyclist’s path, Sandifer said. Carlyle slammed into the Corolla’s passenger side door, and was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.

Neither Roberts nor the child were injured, Sandifer said.

No one in the crash is suspected of in being impaired, but the crash is under investigation and police are considering whether to file charges, Sandifer said. Carlyle was wearing a helmet.
