A bicyclist riding home from a memorial ride for a biker who died in a crash was hit himself, according to a report by WBRZ-TV.

Gordon Mese said it was his quick thinking that prevented the situation from becoming worse Tuesday evening.

“I leapt off of my bike and hit his windshield and that’s probably what saved my life,” he told WBRZ.

Mese is a businessman who ran for mayor in 2012, finishing third, behind Kip Holden and Councilman Mike Walker.
