A single-family home at 437 Baird Drive was destroyed by fire shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Baton Rouge Fire Department report.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, department spokesman Curt Monte said Wednesday evening, but arson is not suspected.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the carport was engulfed in flames, Monte said. The fire entered the attic before being brought under control 23 minutes later.

The fire also damaged a vehicle next to the carport and damaged the facia and soffit of an adjacent home, he said.

There were no injures, Monte said.
