Police have released the name of a 34-year-old man who was arrested after he reportedly shot his wife multiple times Tuesday night in the kitchen of a restaurant at 1853 Muriel Ave.

Calixto Aleman, 14355 S. Harrels Ferry Road, was booked with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm with an obliterated number, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department news release.

The incident occurred at 7:48 p.m. at the Market Street Cafe, the release says.

The 33-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, the release says.

Following the shooting, Aleman left on a bicycle, the release says.

After Aleman was located he gave police a statement about shooting his wife, the release says.
