Authorities searched Friday night for two men suspected of trying to hide out in an East Baton Rouge Parish residence after committing an armed robbery Friday afternoon in Livingston Parish, officials said.

A third man implicated in the robbery - Lawrence Joseph, 28 - had already been caught, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.

Joseph was captured near St. Jean Apartments on South Harrell’s Ferry Road, Hicks said.

Authorities were still looking for the two fugitives as of 8 p.m. Friday, Hicks said.

The incident began Friday afternoon, when three men knocked on the door of a house south of Walker, said Jason Ard, chief criminal deputy for the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

After a woman answered the door, the three men robbed her of prescription medication at gunpoint, Ard said.

A Livingston Parish deputy responded, and saw the men leaving in a car, Ard said.

The ensuing chase began in Livingston Parish, went through Denham Springs and ended near Old Town Apartments on O’Neal Lane in East Baton Rouge Parish, Denham Springs Police Capt. Steve Kistler said.

Denham Springs police also searched the nearby interstate highway to try and locate items the three suspected robbers threw out of the vehicle they used during the chase, Kistler said.
