Baton Rouge police on Saturday night arrested a suspected drunken driver who allegedly ran stop signs while roaring down Florida Boulevard at speeds reaching more than 100 mph and stopped only after she crashed into another vehicle, police said.
A police officer spotted 30-year-old Courtney Queen speeding east down a service road along the 10300 block of Florida Boulevard just before 11 p.m. Saturday, a Baton Rouge police report says.
Queen ignored a stop sign and merged onto the main road, the report says, where she accelerated to over 100 miles per hour and raced down the boulevard until she crashed into another vehicle in the 14800 block of Florida.
After the crash, Queen’s vehicle skidded off the main road and onto the service road where she ditched her car and started running away, the report says.
Police quickly caught Queen and placed her under arrest, the report says. At the police station, Queen refused a breath-alcohol test.
Officers booked Queen, of 16539 Hamilton St., into Parish Prison on counts of DWI, speeding, running a stop sign, reckless operation, careless driving, driving with an expired license and hit and run.
