Two children accused of setting a carport and a car on fire on Tulip Street were taken into custody Wednesday.

The 11-year-old and 12-year-old started the fire around 5 p.m. Wednesday at the home at 2130 Tulip St., Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Mark Miles said.

Baton Rouge Police detained both juveniles, Miles said. The two juveniles admitted they poured gas on the car beneath the carport to cause the fire, a Fire Department report says. When the firefighters arrived, the car and the carport were in flames.

The fire caused about $75,000 worth of damage, the report says. No one was injured.
