Baker police arrested a Bakersfield Elementary School teacher for choking and dragging a six-year-old student at school Wednesday, according to a Baker Police Department news release.
Mildred Russ, 65, 5629 Afton Parkway, was booked by police with a cruelty to a juvenile after she reportedly choked and dragged the student on the playground during recess, the release says.
Eyewitnesses told police Russ first immobilized the child by wrapping her legs around her. Russ then took the child's sweater, put it around the victim's neck and squeezed the child's neck whenever she attempted to move, the release says.
After that, Russ dragged the child across the school yard to the office with such force, eyewitnesses said the child was pulled out of her own shoes.
