The initial autopsy on a one-year-old boy found unresponsive in Baton Rouge Wednesday morning was inconclusive, with doctors unable to determine the cause of death, the coroner’s office said.

Dr. William “Beau” Clark, the East Baton Rouge Parish coroner, said that further studies and investigation would be needed to determine what caused the death of the child.

Baton Rouge Police are investigating the death of the one-year-old, who was found unresponsive at 8770 Elm Grove Garden Drive around 9 a.m. Wednesday and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Baton Rouge Police spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola said detectives are continuing to look into the death while waiting on the coroner’s final report.
