An 18-year-old was arrested after he was accused of shooting up a Baton Rouge apartment Tuesday afternoon.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple calls about shots fired around 8639 GSRI Ave., shortly after 3 p.m., as well as a phone call from the apartment’s owner while deputies were on the way, the Sheriff’s Office report says.
The victim told the deputies his home was shot multiple times by someone, later identified as Brandon West, and that West fled the area in a gray Toyota Camry. The victim followed the Toyota Camry until deputies stopped it, and West was arrested, the report says.
There were four people inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, and though multiple rounds entered the home, striking objects in the residence, none of the occupants were struck. Detective found shell casings at the scene, three bullet projectiles inside the home and a black handgun near the residence.
West told deputies he and the victim were in an ongoing dispute and that he fired multiple rounds into a rear window of the victim’s apartment before he fled the area. In addition, he said he used the gun that detectives found near the scene.
West, 8039 Skysail Ave., was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and aggravated criminal damage to property.
