ST. AMANT - The driver of a pickup truck who was not wearing a seat belt was ejected and killed early Monday after his truck ran off La. 22 in Ascension Parish has been identified as 24-year-old Dustan Reine of Maurepas, State Police reported Tuesday.

The eastbound 2002 Dodge pickup struck two trees and overturned in a bayou shortly before 2 a.m. about a mile west of the Amite River Diversion Canal, troopers said in a news release.

The truck rolled several times after it overturned before it partially submerged in the bayou, troopers said.

The crash is under investigation and alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash, troopers said.

Reine was the lone occupant of the truck, troopers said.
