Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 20-year-old Baton Rouge man and three juveniles in an attack on an intellectually disabled 18-year-old, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.
Dearold Kenyon White, of 6378 Flag St., was caught on video hitting the victim with a bicycle and taking the victim’s cellphone as he and the three juveniles attacked the teenager, according to an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office report.
The victim, described in the report as small and intellectually disabled, told deputies White and the others kicked and punched him in the head and body.
The victim also showed deputies a video of the attack, taken by a bystander and posted on social media, that shows White — wearing a brown sweatshirt and gray pants — throwing a bicycle on top of the victim and taking the cellphone from the victim’s hand, the report says.
All four attackers live in the victim’s neighborhood, the report says, and the victim was able to identify them for investigators.
When deputies confronted White at his home, he admitted to being the person in the video who was throwing the bicycle and stealing the phone, but said he was bullied by the three juveniles and agreed to join in the attack “because he was tired of the three juveniles jumping him,” the report says.
Deputies booked White into Parish Prison on counts of aggravated battery, simple robbery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The three juveniles were booked into juvenile detention, the report says.
