A 23-year-old suspected drunk driver crashed into a construction site early Saturday morning, seriously injuring four workers, according to Louisiana State Police.

The incident happened around 2:45 a.m. on US 61 North at Evangeline Street in St. Charles Parish.

LSP said Earl William Maugham Jr., of Destrehan, was driving north on Airline and sideswiped an unoccupied 2014 Ford truck with white-and-amber flashing lights in the right lane. He continued and struck a John Deere back hoe that a worker was operating. He then drove forward over two raised medians and struck four construction workers.

All four were taken to University Medical Center's Level 1 trauma center. The victims are identified as:

-- Adrian Alexander, 32, of Westwego

-- Davon Caine, 20, of Bridge City

-- Lonzill Henry, 25, of Bridge City

-- Louis Sanchez, 53, of Kenner

Maugham was arrested and booked on four counts of first degree vehicular negligent injuring and careless operation. Additional charges are possible.
