Deputies are searching for a man who robbed a Whitney Bank branch on Jefferson Highway at 2 p.m. Thursday, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.

A man entered the bank at 7980 Jefferson Highway and handed the teller a note demanding money, Hicks said.

The robber ran out of the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash some of which he dropped in a nearby parking lot, Hicks said.

The man is black, 5 feet 10 inches tall and of medium build, Hicks said. He has a small amount of facial hair and was wearing a hard hat, a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a yellow/lime green reflector vest.

The robber also might be covered in orange dye from the bag of money he took from the bank, Hicks said.
