A man was killed and three other people were wounded in a shooting late Wednesday night at a residence in the 4300 block of Kerrit Drive, just off Prescott Road.

Leco Reshon Cole, 38, 1550 N. 30th St., was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office.

A woman shot at the home was reported in stable condition at a hospital Thursday morning, while another man was in surgery, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Another man wounded in the shooting has been released from the hospital, she said.

Hicks said deputies are searching for two unidentified men — both described as roughly 30-year-old men in dark clothing — who may be responsible for the shooting.

Strips of crime scene tape remained stuck Thursday morning to the door frame at the residence, part of a duplex near the intersection of Prescott and Joor Road.

Neighbors sitting on nearby porches declined to speak with a reporter.

A man who lives in the other half of the duplex said he wasn’t home Wednesday night and was only stopping by Thursday morning to pick up clothes. A group of his relatives said they came by to check on him but didn’t know anything about what happened.

Hicks, the Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, said the shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.

Court documents from arrests in recent years, including drug offenses, have listed Cole’s address in the 9600 block of Prescott, directly around the corner from the scene of Wednesday’s shooting, in addition to the North 30th Street address.

Investigators asked anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office at 389-5000 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 344-STOP.
