Update: Judge finds insufficient evidence in rape arrest

Police on Tuesday arrested a Port Allen man accused of raping two young Baton Rouge boys last week while their mother ran an errand.

The victims’ mother initially called police Oct. 1 after she left her two sons, 3 and 5 years old, with Adolph Everson Jr. to run an errand and on her return the children told her Everson raped them, Baton Rouge police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said.

Everson left the home on Prescott Road before police arrived, McKneely said.

The victims’ mother called the police again around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday after she saw Everson next door, and officers arrested him a little while later, McKneely said.

Everson, 37, denied the accusations, the police report said.

Everson, 263 Heliotrope Street, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on two counts of aggravated rape. Editor's note: This story was changed on Oct. 9, 2015, to remove a statement that incorrectly implied that the suspect had been formally charged with aggravated rape and remove an incorrect reference to his bail.
