Baton Rouge police are looking for a teenager they say shot and killed a man earlier this month.

Tyler Pointer, 18, was named Tuesday as a suspect in the Oct. 1 killing of 24-year-old Monquel Yates, who was found after officers followed a trail of blood to his body that was between two houses in the 3400 block of Osceola Street, Baton Rouge Police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said in a news release.

Pointer, of 2762 Jessamine St., less than a mile from the shooting — faces a count of second degree murder, McKneely said.

Anyone with information on Pointer’s whereabouts may contact the Baton Rouge Police Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
