An armed bank robber is at large after stealing money from a Capital One bank on Bluebonnet Boulevard at Anselmo Lane just before 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, an official said.
The robber, holding a handgun, approached a teller — according to surveillance footage released by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office — and made off with an undisclosed sum but not before firing the weapon into the ceiling of the bank, said agency spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks.
No one was injured in the incident, she said.
The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s who was wearing a Saints beanie with fake dreadlocks attached to it, she said. The man, standing at 6 feet 2 inches tall, also was wearing a Nike sweatshirt.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (225) 389-5000 or call Greater Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP.
