Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Baton Rouge woman Monday morning after her boyfriend was found stabbed to death inside their South Harrell’s Ferry Road apartment.

Lisa C. Stewart, 29, told sheriff’s deputies she fatally stabbed her live-in boyfriend, George Taylor, 34, following a Sunday night argument, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The stabbing occurred at the couple’s apartment about 2 a.m. Monday, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

According to a Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Stewart and Taylor were out drinking at a friend’s house for several hours Sunday afternoon. When they returned home about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, an argument erupted.

At some point, Stewart slapped her boyfriend on his head, the report says, prompting him to grab her arms “tightly” while refusing to release her.

Stewart told deputies she “managed to break free and ran into the kitchen,” where she armed herself with a steak knife, according to the report. When her boyfriend stepped out of a bedroom, she swung at him with the knife and missed. On a second swing, “she stabbed him once in the chest,” the report says.

Taylor then walked into a bathroom and sat down while his girlfriend called 911. He later was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the report says.

Parish Coroner Beau Clark said on Monday that Taylor died of a stab wound to the chest.

After being questioned by deputies, Stewart was taken to Parish Prison and booked on a count of second-degree murder.

Stewart, 16112 S. Harrell’s Ferry Road, remained there Monday morning.
