Detectives arrested a man Monday night accused of fatally shooting his daughter's boyfriend, according to an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office news release.

The shooting occurred at 11388 Blackwater Road around 7:15 p.m., Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said in the release.

Wayne Landry, 57, 11388 Blackwater Road was booked with second-degree murder, Hicks said in the release.

Landry is accused of shooting and killing 23-year-old Scott Shipp, 18609 Greenwell Springs Road, No. 12, Hicks said in the release.

Deputies received a call about a disturbance at the Blackwater Road home and a shot being fired, Hicks said.

When deputies arrived, they found Shipp dead outside the home and Landry standing near the door of his home, Hicks said in the release.

According to reports, Shipp and Landry had other arguments earlier in the day in which Landry told Shipp not to return to his home.

Monday night, Shipp went to Landry's home with his girlfriend, Hicks said in the release.

She went inside the home and Shipp remained outside in the vehicle, Hicks said.

Landry then called the Sheriff's Office to come and remove Shipp from his property, Hicks said in the release.

While deputies were on the way, Shipp knocked on the door and Landry said he told him to leave, Hicks said in the release.

When Shipp refused to leave, Landry allegedly shot him, the release says.

Shipp was unarmed, according to the release.
