Two people -- including a Baton Rouge police officer -- were injured in a crash Friday morning.

According to Cpl. L'Jean McKneely, the incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. near the corner of Perkins Road and Quail Oak Drive.

McKneely said the BRPD officer was driving his patrol car eastbound on Perkins when a driver in a work truck made a U-turn from westbound to eastbound on Perkins.

The officer veered to avoid the truck and hit another car head on. The officer was injured along with a occupant in the other vehicle. Neither injury is considered life-threatening, McKneely said.

The driver of the work truck was cited for careless operation.
