Baton Rouge police on Wednesday arrested a 34-year-old man in the shooting and wounding of another man after the two were involved in a fist fight several months ago.

According to an arrest warrant, Cedric J. Clay, 3030 Marydon Drive, walked up to the victim’s vehicle around 1:47 a.m. March 28 and fired into it while he was visiting family in the 2700 block of Ozark Street.

Clay fired his .45 caliber handgun about eight times directly at the driver’s side of the victim’s car, hitting him once each in the stomach and right buttock and twice in his right thigh, according to the warrant.

The victim told police he and Clay were involved in a fist fight four months earlier. At the time, the victim was dating Clay’s ex-girlfriend, the warrant says.

Clay was booked into the Parish Prison Wednesday for attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and aggravated criminal damage to property.
