A previously announced closure of I-10 in Ascension Parish that was scheduled for Friday night until Monday morning has been postponed, according to a Department of Transportation and Development post.
The closure was previously scheduled for I-10 eastbound at the intersection with U.S. 61 and the eastbound on ramp from federal highway.
DOTD spokesman Rodney Mallet said the decision to postpone the project was due in part to the complexity of the project.
The damage was caused when a vehicle, which was too tall, struck the on ramp in October of 2015, Mallet said. Because of the location of the damage and curve of that ramp, the repairs requires specially made parts.
"The last thing you want is for something to go wrong and have extended closures," Mallet said.
He could not say when the closure would be rescheduled, but he said it would definitely be within the year and that there would be at least seven days notice.
