Firefighters responded to two vacant houses engulfed in flames one hour apart Saturday morning, both of which the Baton Rouge Fire Department ruled were arson.
Spokesman Mark Miles said the department has no reason to believe the two fires are connected.
The fire department responded to the first single-family house fire just after 5 a.m. at 5329 Peerless St. and the second shortly after 6 a.m. about seven miles away at 615 South 14th St., the fire department report says.
The houses were valued at $25,000 and $20,000, respectively.
The Baton Rouge Police Department and Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scenes, the report says.
Anyone with information in regards to these house fires are asked to contact Fire Department Arson Investigators at 225-354-1419.
