Man arrested in Sunday morning shooting
A Sunday morning shooting and wounding of a man at a Sunderland Avenue apartment complex led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Baton Rouge man.
Alan Dixon, 9228 Florida Blvd., Apt. 33, Baton Rouge, is accused of breaking into an apartment, arguing with the man who lived there and ultimately shooting him, according to the arrest warrant.
The victim told deputies that he and the other adults and children in the apartment were asleep about 7 a.m. when he was awoken by the sound of someone kicking the apartment’s locked door open, according to the warrant.
When Dixon came through the door, he shouted, “Where the females at,” and said he was going to “smash” them, the warrant says.
The victim, who said he knew Dixon, confronted him and the two began to argue. The argument, according to the warrant, moved to the parking lot where Dixon used a handgun he pulled out of his back pocket to strike the victim in the head.
Another man, who also had a handgun, was with Dixon, and when the victim tried to run away from the two men, they both started shooting at him, according to the warrant. He was shot several times in the back.
The identity of the second man has not been released.
The victim is expected to recover from his injuries, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office.
