Karshawn Brooks, 31

A 31-year-old man wanted in the rape of a teenage girl was arrested Thursday on counts of third-degree rape and sexual battery.

Karshawn Lee Brooks, of Baton Rouge, forced himself on the 14-year-old girl several times between October and December, according to a Baton Rouge Police report.

The 14-year-old girl told investigators that beginning in September, when she was 13, Brooks began climbing into bed with her and touching her.

Over the course of the next few months, Brooks removed the girl’s clothing and raped her six times on separate visits to a Baton Rouge home, which Brooks claimed happened because “she was trying to be a grown woman and that he was going to teach her a lesson,” according to the report.

The girl found herself alone with Brooks while the person she was visiting was at work at night, the report said.

Brooks was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail on counts of third-degree rape and sexual battery. His bail has not been set, according to jail records.
