An off-duty Baton Rouge police officer was driving a Corvette involved in a crash Thursday night on Airline Highway near Cortana Mall and was among the nine people who were injured, Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. L'Jean McKneely said Friday.

Only two vehicles were involved in the crash, the Corvette and another vehicle that flipped, McKneely said. However, police have not yet determined who was at fault in the crash.

While some of those injured were listed in critical condition, it does not look like anyone's condition will worsen, McKneely said.

The Traffic Homicide Unit was called in to investigate the case because of the extent of injuries, he said.

As of Friday evening, he said, the unit was still working to obtain video of the incident before determining fault or making any arrests, if deemed necessary. The wreck remained under investigation.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Florline Boulevard and Airline Highway. The nine people injured included many children.
