Baton Rouge police Thursday arrested a man in a February shooting on 16th Street that left one man wounded and three vehicles sprayed with bullets.

Maurice Lewis, 32, got into an argument Feb. 3 with the victim in the parking lot of the Chevron gas station at 1300 Scenic Highway, according to an arrest warrant.

The men parted ways until several hours later when the victim went to his cousin’s house at 2034 N. 16th St., detectives said. Lewis and two other men were waiting in a nearby driveway as the victim pulled up to the house.

Lewis and his companions began firing at the victim, striking him in the abdomen and leaving behind a “large number of spent shell casings,” the warrant says. The victim later identified Lewis in a photo lineup, detectives said.

Lewis, 2034 N. 16th St., was booked into Parish Prison on counts of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm. A judge set his bail at $117,500, booking records show.
