Teen booked in armed robbery attempt

Baton Rouge Police arrested a 17-year-old female accused of trying to rob a man at gunpoint on Aug. 18 before the two scuffled for control of the gun and the teen tried to take off in the victim’s car.

Carltina Augustus approached the man while he was depositing money in a Chase ATM at 250 W. State St., according to the arrest warrant. Augustus then hit the man on his head with the pistol, leading to the fight over the gun, the warrant says. Augustus then ran to the man’s car and tried to drive away in it, but when she saw the man running towards her she ran away on foot, the warrant says.

Augustus, of 1907 Jasper St., Baton Rouge, was booked Wednesday into Parish Prison on a count of attempted armed robbery.
