Baton Rouge man booked on child porn
A 24-year-old Baton Rouge man was arrested Thursday in Ascension Parish on counts related to child pornography, according to a press release from the State Police.
Spokesman Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said Phillip J. Rome was charged with possession and distribution of images of child pornography.
The arrest came after investigators served a search warrant at Rome’s former residence in Prairieville. Investigators suspect Rome, who now lives in Baton Rouge, distributed and received the images while he resided in Prairieville.
As a result of the search warrant, a large amount of child pornography was located on a computer belonging to Rome, police said. Rome was placed under arrest and booked into the Ascension Parish jail.
Investigators from the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations Special Victims Unit worked with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, LSP Troop A, and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office on the investigation.
