1 JAN. 6: Naquian Robinson, 19, was fatally shot in the 1900 block of Walnut Street during an attempted robbery and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died. Roderick White, 20 at the time of arrest, was booked on counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery and illegal use of a weapon.

2 JAN. 11: Calvin Smith, 19, was found fatally shot in the parking lot of Carlin’s Food Mart in the 2900 block of Plank Road. Sidney Paul Ellois III, 19, was indicted on a count of second-degree murder.

3 JAN. 17: Trevor Washington, 23, shot several times in the torso, was found wounded on N. 37th Street, and taken to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries. Demond Sanders, 27, 1197 N. Acadian Thruway, was arrested on counts of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, but court records show no charges were filed and he was released from jail.

4 5 JAN. 18: Jeff Baker, 34, was shot to death in what police believe was a shootout between him and Jamiya Owen, 38, after the two got into an argument at 3325 Alliquippa St. Police found one lying in the yard and the other inside the house, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.

6 JAN. 24: Brooke Ashley Craw ford, 30, was found partially nude and shot multiple times in an open field near the 1500 block of Gracie Street. While the circumstances of death remain unknown, the secluded area has been a site for drug-dealing and prostitution, according to police and residents. Rajeski Ford, 26, was indicted on second-degree murder after police matched his DNA to some found on Crawford and reconstructed text messages and a photograph on Ford’s cell phone that he thought he deleted.

7 MARCH 1: Eddie Simon Jr., 24, was fatally shot, including once in the head, in his front yard on 73rd Avenue. One neighbor said he saw several men in a white sedan back out of the driveway and speed away after the shooting. The car returned five minutes later and the occupants got out and paced around the yard before leaving again, he said. No arrest has been made.

8 MARCH 4: Lenroy Marshall, 46, was found shot to death in the front yard of a Belaire neighborhood home in the 12000 block of Lorna Avenue. Jaime Mejia, 35, 12387 Lorna Avenue, was indicted on second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

9 MARCH 5: Kwemon Davis, 23, drove his Mercury Milan in the 2200 block of Spanish Town Road when two men in another vehicle began chasing and shooting at him. Eventually, Davis was shot and crashed his car into a utility pole near the intersection of North 22nd and Gracie streets. Davis spent two days at the hospital in critical condition before he died. No arrest has been made.

10 MARCH 10: Deputy U.S. Marshal Josie Wells, 27, was shot in the neck working with his team to arrest Jamie Croom, 31, at the Elm Grove Motel. Croom, wanted in a New Roads double homicide, fired at Wells, who was struck with a bullet. Wells died of severe blood loss. Croom was also shot and died the next day.

11 MARCH 20: Idalis Smith, 18, died in her Baton Rouge home on N. 30th Street after she and her stepfather were shot in the house. Quintin Thomas, 27, was arrested in Lafayette and is charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

12 MARCH 22: Joel Guevara, 28, was shot on a sidewalk outside his apartment behind the former Earl K. Long Medical Center off Greenwell Street near Airline Highway. Yovanni Anibal Ramos-Salazar, 31, was indicted with manslaughter in the death. Ramos-Salazar reportedly believed that Guevara had raped one of his family members.

13 MARCH 26: Jemina Williams, 34, was found partially nude and shot multiple times near an auto shop, New World International on North St., behind a white pickup under a canopy. No arrest has been made.

14 APRIL 11: Taherah Ghassemi, 54, was abducted from her Baton Rouge home, stuffed into the back of a vehicle and killed, though it is unclear when she was shot. Detectives found her May 16 buried in some woods in St. Helena Parish, and investigators soon arrested her ex-husband Hamid Ghassemi, 64, and three people he allegedly hired to kill her: Tyler Lee Ashpaugh, 21; Skyler W. Williams, 18; and Daniel Humberto Richter, 34. Taherah Ghassemi’s ex-husband had been ordered to pay her more than $1 million in February as part of a settlement in a long and bitter divorce battle. Ashpaugh, Williams and Richter were indicted on counts of first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping and arson. Hamid Ghassemi was indicted on principle to first-degree murder, principle to second-degree kidnapping, solicitation for murder and principle to arson.

15 APRIL 12: Darrell James Fortune, 57, was fatally shot just inside his front door on Hollywood Street, but there were no signs of forced entry or evidence of struggle preceding the shooting. No arrest has been made.

16 17 APRIL 24-MAY 1: Brittney Mills, 29, was found dead at her home on Ship Drive. Investigators believe she opened her front door to someone who wanted to use her car and was shot multiple times after she refused. Mills, pregnant, was rushed to the hospital, and her son, Brenton Mills, was delivered in unstable condition. He died May 1. No arrest has been made.

18 MAY 4: Taylor Latham, 24, was found shot to death inside a Ford Mustang parked near her Louisiana Avenue home. Her 2-year-old daughter, A’Kyleana Latham, was missing at the time and later returned by Curtis King, 24, who was indicted on second-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.

19 MAY 11: George Taylor, 34, was stabbed to death in an apartment he shared with his girlfriend, Lisa C. Stewart, 29. An argument erupted between the couple that turned physical before Stewart allegedly grabbed a steak knife and jabbed him once in the chest. She called 911, but he died later after he was taken to the hospital. Stewart, 16112 S. Harrell’s Ferry Road, was indicted on a manslaughter charge.

20 MAY 11: Cameron Matthews, 20, was riding in a car with two other men when they stopped the car in the 600 block of East Grant St. and Cody Sanders, 20, allegedly shot Matthews with a pistol after the man driving the car, Cory Handy, 20, handed Sanders the gun and told him to do so. Matthews was found dead at the scene. Sanders and Handy were indicted on charges of second-degree murder.

21 MAY 24: Kendrick Thompson, 32, was gunned down out after getting out of a tan sedan in the 3900 block of Beechwood Drive. When Thompson ran, police say the driver got out of the car, fired several shots and then got back into the car and drove off. Thompson later died at a local hospital. No arrest has been made.

22 MAY 26: John Tallant, 59, was initially thought to have died of natural causes, but an autopsy revealed that the homeless man was beaten to death. Tallant was found under the I-12 overpass in the 1900 block of O’Neal Lane. No arrest has been made.

23 JUNE 6: David White Jr., 39, got into a fist fight with his girlfriend’s son before the now 22-year-old, John Parker, pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds at White off Gardere Lane. White later died at the hospital, and Parker, 8136 Skysail Ave., was charged with manslaughter.

24 JUNE 9: Jarvis Tucker, 33, was found shot to death in his residence on North 48th St. No arrest has been made. There is no known motive at this time.

25 JUNE 10: Anthony Johnson, 23, was sitting on the front porch of his home in the 1800 block of Plank Road, where he’d been living for just a few months, when he was shot multiple times. An uncle discovered his body. No arrests have been made.

26 JUNE 11: D’Andre T. Smith, 35, arrived at Reginald Scott’s residence near the intersection of Greenwell Street and Airline Highway, and the two had a fight in the front yard before Scott allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Smith multiple times. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, and Scott, 36, of 5412 Summer Drive, was arrested. He was indicted on a second-degree murder charge.

27 JUNE 11: Justin Guillory, 21, was shot multiple times as he climbed into his car after playing basketball at a gym at a Seventh Day Adventist church. He died at the scene. Keith Anthony Brown, 21, 1854 North St., who police say argued with Guillory two weeks before the attack, was indicted on a count of second degree murder. Devonte Haynes, 23, 18041 Hoo Shoo Too Road, who allegedly drove Brown away from the scene, has been charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.

28 JUNE 14: Argell Myles, 29, died at a hospital after police found him lying in the 4800 block of Crown Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at about 9:20 p.m. No arrests have been made.

29 30 JUNE 19: Brandi Gilbert, 23, of Plano, Texas and Corrin Rayford, 23, of Grapevine, Texas, were both found in a parked car in the 8100 block of Boone Drive, killed by bullets to the head. Police haven’t identified a motive in the killings and no arrest has been made.

31 JUNE 21: Donlisha Patterson, 21, was standing outside at a crowded birthday party on East Upland Avenue when someone in a passing car opened fire and someone at the party shot back. Patterson died at the hospital. No arrest has been made.

32 JUNE 24: Sarajay Franklin Jr., 17, died in the parking lot of BREC’s Airline Highway Park/Fairgrounds after being shot. Ronald Lockett, 18, of Baker, has been indicted with second-degree murder in the shooting. Bodrick Tuggle and Christopher Gray are charged with attempted armed robbery for allegedly trying to rob Lockett in what police called a drug deal gone bad. Police said Gray was not present but set up the meeting.

33 JUNE 27: Tyrone Clay, 36, was found lying dead in the driveway of his home in the 1500 block of King St. from multiple gunshot wounds. No arrest has been made.

34 JULY 4: Robert Noce, 47, was strangled and stabbed to death before being stuffed into a 55-gallon drum left in the kitchen of his Zachary home. Brittany Monk, 18, and her boyfriend, Jace Crehan, 21, both of 30046 King St., Walker, are charged with second-degree murder in the slaying of Noce, who’d been accused of raping Monk during her childhood but was convicted of a lesser charge. In letters to The Advocate, Crehan acknowledged killing Noce and said he’d confronted him over the abuse.

35 JULY 11: Jovan Dumas, 31, was shot and killed and another man was wounded in the 1000 block of Baranco Street at around 9:30 p.m. Police have not identified a motive in the shooting and no arrest has been made.

36 37 JULY 12: Makayla Jones, 18, and Shawyn Lollis, 38, were both killed when Jones’ boyfriend, 20-year-old Marquiles Whaley, allegedly opened fire in the couple’s apartment on N. Donmoor Ave. before killing himself. Jones’ mother, 36-year-old Romander Jones, was wounded in the shooting. The couple’s 1-year-old child, who was in the apartment during the shooting, was unharmed.

38 JULY 13: Dewayne Bazille, 27, was shot to death after another man pulled out a gun during a fist fight inside a public gym at BREC’s Expressway Park. Trestan Coats, 22, originally accused of manslaughter and illegal use of a weapon, was charged with negligent homicide.

39 JULY 14: Kerry Green, 23, was shot numerous times just after midnight in the courtyard of the Elm Grove Apartments in the Scotlandville area of Baton Rouge. No arrest has been made.

40 41 JULY 18: Brandon Wallace, 31, and Terrell Head, 28, died on the front steps and in the yard of a home on Brice Street after both were hit during a drive-by shooting shortly after 7:30 p.m. Two other men, one 16 years old and the other 22 years old, were wounded in the shooting. No arrest has been made.

42 JULY 21: Eddie Keys III, 33, was found shot to death behind the wheel of his wrecked vehicle in the 1800 block of South Acadian Thruway. Police believe Keys was shot by someone in another car and crashed after he was hit, but no arrest has been made.

43 JULY 31: Selvin Ruiz-Zuniga, 28, was fatally shot as he was standing in a group in the parking lot of a sports complex in the 8400 block of Bayou Fountain Avenue after an argument over a soccer game. Francisco Molina, 21, 8083 Bayou Fountain Ave., and Cesar Guerrero, 19, 16203 Norwick Ave., were indicted with second-degree murder.

44 45 46 AUG. 2: Kevin Ford, 24, Fredrick Corner, 25, and Antoine Harris, 23, were all shot at about 1 a.m. and left to die in a driveway at 2331 Jefferson Ave. Police have not made an arrest in the slayings.

47 AUG. 5: Josephine Hope, 3 months old, died at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after her parents brought her to the hospital three skull fractures, multiple rib fractures, face and neck bruising, a bloody mouth and bloodshot eyes. The girl’s mother told doctors the baby fell off a changing table, but police said the story didn’t line up with Josephine’s injuries and arrested the baby’s father, John William Hope, 28, 1919 Blvd. de Province, Apt. 123, who has been charged with second-degree murder.

48 AUG. 20: Artez Hamilton, 20, was shot at about 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 19 in the 4300 block of Southpark Drive and died during surgery early the next day. Cedrick Smith, 19, 3073 North St., was arrested on counts of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon in Hamilton’s slaying. A witness told sheriff’s deputies that Hamilton had arranged to meet two men at the spot of the killing to swap guns. The witness heard gunshots and allegedly saw Smith drop a handgun as he ran from the scene.

49 AUG. 23: David Wasike, 47, was shot multiple times outside his home in the 8000 block of Skysail Avenue and was pronounced dead at the hospital. No arrest has been made.

50 AUG. 27: Marlon Williams, 21, was found lying dead from gunshot wounds in the roadway in the 1800 block of Curtis Street shortly before dawn. No arrest has been made.

51 AUG. 28: Michael Howard, 32, died after being transported to a hospital after he was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the driveway of his home in the 3800 block of Wyandotte Street. No arrest has been made.

52 AUG. 28: James “Kewambi” Collins, 39, a plant worker, was shot and killed by someone in a moving vehicle while driving home from his son’s football game in the 10200 block of Avenue E. He died in the same Scotlandville neighborhood where his brother was gunned down in 2008. No arrests have been made.

53 54 55 SEPT. 13: Joseph Allen, 57, Perry Allen, 55, and Mark Allen, 51, all brothers, were shot and killed during a dispute with a neighbor in the 12000 block of Talmadge Crumholt Road in Central. Rodney Chemin, the 60-year-old neighbor who lived on the same gravel road, shot himself after killing the brothers.

56 SEPT. 13: Herbert Williams, 25, died at the hospital after being found shot in a vehicle in the 200 block of eastbound I-10. No arrests have been made.

57 SEPT. 14: Levi Alexander, 28, was shot multiple times and left to die in the roadway in the 1700 block of North 23rd Street. Michael Collins, 39, of 1500 North 23rd St., was arrested on counts of second degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and illegal use of a weapon.

58 SEPT. 20: Kendrick Ross, 37, a father of seven, was found shot dead inside a vehicle in the 9400 block of Avis Avenue, a few miles from his home. No arrests have been made.

59 SEPT. 22: Henry McGuffey, 28, had just come home from work when he and a friend were shot as they walked across a parking lot outside his residence in the 1800 block of Jade Ave. The 21-year-old friend survived, but McGuffey died at the scene. Family members said they believe someone was watching and “waiting for” McGuffey. No arrests have been made.

60 OCT. 2: Monquel Yates, 24, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds between two houses in the 3400 block of Osceola Street, where a trail of blood led detectives to a vehicle with shattered glass. Yates, a father of two, had gone out to buy shoes the evening he was killed. Tyler Pointer, 19, of 2762 Jessamine St. was arrested on a count of second-degree murder in the killing.

61 OCT. 10: Eduardo Olivas, 33, was shot dead when he tried to break up an argument in the 1200 block of Cristy Drive. Witnesses said an intoxicated man in a van tried to pick a fight with Olivas’s friend and fled after shooting Olivas and his companion, who survived. Olivas, a father of four, was originally from Mexico. Jaime Rivera, 26, of 1283 Cristy Drive, is wanted on counts of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

62 OCT. 12: Gerald Penny, 24, was found shot multiple times on the corner of Woodcock Street and Avenue H. No arrests have been made.

63 64 OCT. 19: Denis “Bubbie” Duplantier, 71, and his wife Suzanne, 70, were found strangled in the back of their pickup at a Hammond truck stop. Police believe they were attacked by their landscaper and an accomplice at their house in the 5000 block of Highland Road. A safe at the residence was found open with items missing. Ernesto Llerena Alonso, 42, and Frank Garcia, 48, who are believed to be related, were arrested in Florida on two counts each of first-degree murder and kidnapping.

65 66 OCT. 24: John Armstrong III, 46, and Corey Steptore, 45, were found stabbed to death inside Armstrong’s residence in the 6200 block of Dutton Ave. The friends had returned home from a nightclub that evening, family members said. No arrests have been made.

67 OCT. 29: Darius Johnson, 23, ran away from a park near his house when he was shot by someone in a group of young men fighting with Johnson’s friends. Johnson was found dead in the backyard of his residence in the 2700 block of N. 31st St. Dyshun Winns, 19, was arrested on a count of second-degree murder, and Marcus Gillard, 28, was captured on a count of principal to second-degree murder.

68 NOV. 4: Ronnie Anderson, 54, was found shot to death in the 1700 block of North 46th Street. Christopher Holland was arrested on counts of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary and illegal use of a weapon.

69 NOV. 9: Jeffrey Fleming, 42, was found slain four months after the drive-by shooting death of his daughter, 21-year-old LSU senior Donlisha Patterson. He was found shot to death inside his residence in the 5900 block of Victory Drive. No arrest has been made.

70 NOV. 13: Jody McCray, 31, was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife when a fight broke out between three men in the Lone Oak Apartments in the 3000 block of Lone Oak Drive. Thomas Davis, 49, was arrested on a count of manslaughter in the case.

71 NOV. 13: Charles Barney, 33, tried to shoo away a drug dealer from outside his girlfriend’s residence when he was shot by the alleged narcotics seller some 30 minutes after the two argued. Barney staggered to a nearby apartment in the 1700 block of Starboard Ave, but did not survive despite residents’ frantic attempts to save him. Ronald Joseph Jr., 29, was arrested on counts of second-degree murder, illegal use of a firearm and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

72 NOV. 14: Keisha Parker, 30, was shot in the chest by a passenger of a green SUV who fired at her as she approached the vehicle near her residence in the 3800 block of Geronimo St. She was visiting a friend at the time of the shooting. No arrests have been made.

73 NOV. 23: Michael Smith, 25, was found shot dead outside an unoccupied building in the 300 block of Springfield Road, near Baker. No arrests have been made.

74 DEC. 4: Luise Garcia, 27, was fatally shot by her husband, Juan Angel Delarca Martinez, 27, authorities said, during a domestic dispute in the 8300 block of Amy Drive. A bartender, she left behind a girl, 2, and a boy, 11. Martinez faces counts of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

75 DEC.9: Oswal Migdonio Andrade, 22, was shot dead in the 9000 block of Tracy Avenue. A 16-year-old boy and Lawrence Bennett, 17, were both arrested, each on counts of principal to first-degree murder and principal to armed robbery. Karlos Jawoski Ghoram, 20, was arrested on counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery.

76 DEC. 13: Desmond Bryant, 14, was injured by at least one bullet while riding in a car in the in the 1800 block of North 17th Street. The vehicle’s 20-year-old driver was also struck, but survived. Carson Thomas, 20, was arrested on a count of first-degree murder.

77 DEC. 21: George Reusch Jr., 27, was shot to death in his SUV outside in a parking lot in the 5100 block of Corporate Blvd. Reusch, who left behind a fiancee and a baby son, had arrived the parking lot for a planned drug deal, police said. Glenn Spears, 27 was arrested on a count of first-degree murder. Two accomplices, Gabrielle Rogers, 25, and D’mon Spears, 23, were booked on counts of principal to first-degree murder.

78 DEC. 30: Reginald Lee, 23, was allegedly shot in the chest by his girlfriend, Jalisa Lashae Wilson, 23 at their residence in the 1600 block of Fairchild Street. Wilson, booked on a count of second-degree murder, told police the killing was in self-defense.
