Baton Rouge police arrested two men in an armed robbery attempt that led to gunshot wounds for one of the victims.

The incident began on Friday afternoon when 19-year-old Gregory Gustave called the two victims and asked them to give him a ride from Government Street to Washington Avenue, according to the police report. The report does not say how Gustave knows the victims but indicates they agreed to pick him up.

When they arrived at the 2800 block of Washington Avenue, Gustave made a call on his phone and got out of the car — and that’s when Joshua Harris, whose address is nearby, appeared behind the car, and both Gustave and Harris drew guns and demanded money from the victims, the report says.

When one of the victims tried to flee, Harris shot him at least twice, the report says. That victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Gustave, 5426 McClelland Drive, Baton Rouge, and Harris, 20, 2811 Washington Ave., Baton Rouge, both were booked on counts of attempted first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and illegal use of a dangerous weapon.
