BELLE ROSE - An Assumption Parish man was arrested Thursday after calling deputies for help when he locked his keys in his car — where deputies found a substantial amount of drugs, Sheriff Leland Falcon said.

A deputy dispatched to help Juwan Johnson, who had called to say he was locked out of his car near Belle Rose, could smell an odor of fresh marijuana coming from the car, Falcon said in a news release.

Johnson gave the deputy, who got the car unlocked, permission to search the car, where substantial amounts of marijuana, prescription drugs, Ecstasy and an assortment of drug paraphernalia was found, along with a significant amount of cash, Falcon said.

Johnson, 24, of 114 Pugh St., Paincourtville, was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center in Napoleonville on counts of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a legend drug without a prescription, possession with intent to distribute Ecstasy and possession of drug paraphernalia, Falcon said.
