A man wielding a butcher knife stole cash and a cell phone from a woman walking along a Baton Rouge street Friday and was arrested after police coaxed him out of his locked house, officials said.
Floyd Stevens, 24, faces a count of armed robbery for the 8:45 a.m. incident in the 3100 block of Winbourne Avenue, said Baton Rouge Police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely.
Stevens is accused of robbing the woman of the phone and the money, which amounted to less than $100, before running away, McKneely said. The woman also fled and used a second cell phone to call 911, he said.
SWAT officers approached Stevens’ house on the same block where he had locked himself inside. He voluntarily emerged around noon, McKneely said.
