A 43-year-old Baton Rouge man kicked a sheriff’s deputy and had to be forced into a patrol car after he was arrested Saturday for attacking his girlfriend, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Ricky Joseph Meilleur, 14716 Florida Blvd., was booked into Parish Prison on counts of battery of a police officer, resisting an officer and domestic abuse battery/child endangerment.
According to a Sheriff’s Office report, deputies arrived at Meilleur’s home after a number of residents in a neighboring trailer park complained to the park’s manager about a man and woman fighting outside.
Meilleur’s girlfriend told deputies he dragged her on the ground and punched her in the head after she tried to leave following an argument, the report says.
The trailer park manager played deputies a recording of a call in which another resident described a woman running away, screaming for help and asking someone to call 911, the report says.
After deputies arrested Meilleur, he began yelling and struggling with the officers, the report says.
Once placed inside a deputy’s car, Meilleur “began to kick violently” at the officers, striking one in the chest and arms, the report says.
Bail for Meilleur, who remained at Parish Prison Sunday evening, has not been set.
