East Baton Rouge sheriff’s deputies arrested a Baton Rouge man Monday accused of punching a woman in the face as well as striking her with a Shake Weight Dumbbell.

Abubaker Idris, 37, went to the Cedar Pointe Boulevard home of the victim on Feb 5 and began arguing with the woman, who is the mother of their child, according to an arrest warrant.

The argument escalated and Idris began punching her in the face and then hit her in the forehead with a “Shake Weight dumbbell,” a 2.5 pound dumbbell, while the woman’s daughter looked on along with two other children, the warrant says.

Idris left when the woman’s daughter called police, the warrant says.

The woman had a knot on her head but refused medical attention, according to the warrant.

The warrant does not say whether the woman’s daughter is also Idris’ daughter.

Idris, of 373 Community College Drive, Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of aggravated battery and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
