Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Baton Rouge woman Saturday accused of striking her pregnant sister with a vehicle more than a year ago.

Jamie Smith, now 28, was arguing with her pregnant sister and brother at Smith’s Rush Avenue apartment on July 22, 2014, when Smith jumped in a vehicle, put it in reverse and began to back out of a parking lot, according to the arrest warrant.

Smith put the car in gear, and accelerated toward her sister — striking her with the passenger’s side of the car, the warrant says.

Smith then drove off. Her sister, who was pregnant, refused treatment by emergency medical staff, the warrant says. She made an appointment to speak to deputies at the Gardere substation but did not show up, the warrant says.

Smith, of 27435 Damon St., Plaquemine, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of aggravated battery, hit-and-run and reckless operation.
