Authorities arrested a 43-year-old Baton Rouge man Wednesday for allegedly trying to set fire to a home occupied by five children and two adults, according to a Fire Department release.

Fire fighters arrived at a home in the 1700 block of Convention Street about 1:35 a.m. in response to someone trying to start a fire under the home, the release says.

The victims said Brian Barton, 3402 Pioneer Drive, wanted to burn down the house because of an argument, the release says.

Barton was seen standing across the street from the home as investigators were interviewing the victims, the release says.

Barton was arrested and booked into Parish Prison on seven counts of aggravated arson.
